  3. Looking for a creative outlet and want to start a side hustle

Then, you've likely had the question of, "How do I balance both without burnout?" pop into your head. Don't panic! You can have the best of both worlds, as long as you take the time to plan your balancing act!

Today, we are jumping into our top tips for balancing a side hustle and full-time employment, check them out below.

Set Intentional Expectations and Goals

There's nothing you can't do, you know that! But, there's a difference between you can do everything, and you should do everything. Don't spread yourself thin! Drop those perfectionist tendencies and remember that you have to be realistic with yourself and set up reasonable goals!

Time Management

How you manage your time will make all the difference.

  1. Complete a time audit - where are you spending your time?

  2. Track your time for your side hustle to raise awareness. We like using the tool Toggl, to track our time. It allows you to track tasks and projects and sends a weekly report so you can continue to audit where you are putting your attention.

  3. Take advantage of time management strategies. Time blocking or boxing for example, is where you set "blocks" in your calendar to work on specific {projects, tasks, roles}.

Plan Ahead

Rebrand your "slow season" as your plan-ahead season! Use any downtime or slow periods to prepare for the busy ones and alleviate stress off your future self.

Automate & Organize

Find tools that help you automate and organize! We have major news for you, you can automate without losing control or personal touches. Automating even the small things will have an impact on your overall day-to-day workload. Whether it's an automatic email reminder or a payment for something, automate it! Will it take time to set things up? Absolutely. But take that time now, to save more time day in and day out!

Boundaries

You should establish boundaries for both roles, so you still get to have a healthy work-life balance, even if you are working a bit of OT with your side hustle! Set office hours, snooze notifications when you need to, log off, and take personal days. You'll thank yourself later 🫶

Have a Support System

Network! Join communities and groups that get what you're going through, so you can create a support system that not only can be a place to vent to but also seek advice and tips for continuing to improve.
