How I Organize My Google Calendar

When my calendar is a mess, my life is a mess...

Having a calendar that can organize my work and personal life is key for me staying on track of all things. If you're a fellow calendar-person to your core, come along as we share the in's + out's of calendar organization!

Step 1: Private + Professional Calendars

I created a private channel aside from my normal professional calendar. In Google calendar you can toggle on and off which view you'd like. For me, my brain LOVES categories, but this was also a huge boundary for me. When I had them both together, I often found myself getting distracted by personal tasks or thinking about work while I was trying to relax off the clock. Having them separated has been a game-changer!

Step 2: Assign Colors

One thing about me - if there's something that can be color-coded, I'm going to color code it. I love to assign certain colors or symbols by project! This way, when you're having a heavy case of the Mondays and you can't remember what task this is for, you get a little memory boost with a color that helps you connect the dots.

Step 3: Time Blocks

We constantly brag about time blocking on our Social Savvy blog. This technique helps big time for keeping yourself on track with certain task, by allowing you to focus on each in a certain amount of time. I add this right into my Google calendar to help carry it out!

Step 4: Use Desktop Notifications

Setting up your calendar is one thing, but when you're locked into a task sometimes time flies by! I like to turn on my notifications and leave them on so I'm on time and ready to shift into the next event or task.

Use these as inspo while you create your own organization inside your go-to calendar app! As always organize your things how it works for YOU! You'll never stay organized unless it's sustainable with how your brain organizes things, so don't feel like you have to copy and paste this to a T!

Tune back into the blog this Friday where we are going over how to handle feeling overwhelmed at work!
