Goodbye Millennial Neutrals, Hello Pops of Color

Confession, I am a neutrals girlie.

I have fallen major victim to the beige, gray, and white lifestyle — my closet, my decor, my makeup, everything! Growing up in the 2000s with colorful ponchos and crazy patterns (I literally wore zebra print??), there was a certain comfort that came with the trend of neutrals. However, I think in this new era in the new year, I want to start leaning back into color.

After loving neutrals for so long, adding color back into my life feels a bit nerve-racking. I certainly don't want to jump back into the full-color Disney channel wardrobe and Lilly Pulitzer-patterned bags, so where is the happy medium? Here's how I am adding color back into my life, and how you can, too!

Color Palette

Revamp your house's color pallette! Choosing a palette can help things not feel so cluttered when you start adding in color. This way you always have a reference and it doesn't feel as scary of a jump!

Start Small

Baby steps! Especially with decor, start with your accent pieces and work up to more prominent furniture pieces, if you'd like.

Accessories

While I'm not throwing out my entire capsule wardrobe I've been working on, I am adding some new accessories into the mix to add a subtle pop of color. Heels, purses, jewelry — I've been slowly adding in to wear with neutrals.

Mix it in

Not everything needs to be alllll neutral or allll color. All of my office supplies were neutral, and I actually am keeping the majority of it this way! I love how simple neutrals feel in certain areas.

Buy Pieces That Make You Happy

Sometimes the thought of finding things that work perfectly together has to be thrown out the window. Instead, think about the things that make you happy, that will become your new style, with colors and neutral.

Are you leaning back into color or staying neutral in 2025? We have to know!
