Email Etiquette 101: Our Top Tips for Email Etiquette from One Business Owner to Another
Email has been around since the dawn of time it feels like, yet there is still so much grey area when it comes to writing professional emails.
We have to put a stop to this ASAP, because we all have to use email at some level (even if you're just signing up for another 10% off code ikykik). Here are our top tips for email etiquette in 2024 from one business owner to another!
Know Your Receiver
Fluff vs direct, what's best? We all know "I hope this email finds you well" has turned into our favorite memes, but no one is talking about if we should be using pleasantries in our professional emails or not? Our best advice is know who you're talking to! Read the tone of other's emails to find out if they enjoy the "fluff" or like to keep things short and sweet. Think of it this way, how do you shorten your stories when you know you're talking to someone who is direct and to the point? The same should go for email as well.
Follow-Ups
ALWAYS follow-up! Not only are follow-ups great for getting answers, but they can help aid as reminders, with conversions, and in building relationships. Email ghosting is alive and well in 2024, and we have to end it here. If you're not interested in the product/service, let them know. If you're SUPER interested in the job, thank them for interviewing you! If you're waiting for an answer, send a quick reminder.
Clear Call to Action
Whether you’re requesting a meeting, feedback, or a reply, make sure to clearly state what you want the recipient to do next. This avoids any confusion and ensures your email is productive!
Email Signatures

Thank you,
Great meeting you,
All the best,
Sending poolside,
OOO Email
Business owners need time off, too, of course. Be sure to set your OOO email if your expecting a longer response time. This gives whomever you are emailing a heads-up but also helps you stress less that someone is waiting on a reply asap.
