Day In the Life of a Social Media Manager At A Marketing Agency in Tampa, FL

As a social media manager working for a social media marketing agency in Tampa, Florida, not every day looks the same but there are some highlights of each day that I'd love to share with you.

Here at Social Savvy, we manage the social media accounts for several clients across industries varying from online entrepreneurs (think podcasters and coaches), to product brands, boutiques, beauty brands, and more. This constantly keeps it interesting with new industry trends, topics, and challenges to take on.

Here's the insight into what my typical day looks like as a social media manager:

AM

Get ready for the day! I am not a morning person by any means, but one of my 2024 goals was to get a better morning routine. I get up around eight and try to stay off my phone, and instead eat breakfast, grab a lemon water, and take care of my dog, Honey, and make sure she's also ready for the day.

At 9, I love to start by ensuring that all posts are in queue for the day, posting anything manually, and then going straight to inbound engagement from after hours. I like to go account by account to ensure I don't miss anything and every one is answered before starting my tasks for the day.

After that, I go to our team Asana board and make a to-do list for the day to prioritize tasks for projects, before going to the calendar to double-check meeting times. Most of our meetings start around 10-11, and if I don't have meetings I usually go into creative tasks (i.e. content creation!) or community management for accounts that I manage personally. I find that I work best on creative and community tasks in the morning, and more analytical or copy-focused towards the afternoon.

LUNCH

My favorite lunch is usually always a rotation of soup, salad, sammy, or a combination of those! I usually take a later lunch after my meetings for the day and zone out on TikTok for a bit. If you can, I highly recommend disconnecting from work for lunch! I used to constantly taking working lunches and I found that (1) I was more tired and uninspired by the EOD, (2) I was making simple mistakes because I was putting my focus in two spots.

PM

I dive back into things after lunch. As I mentioned, this is when I like to work on more writing-focused tasks like blog writing or caption writing; however, I do still like to check in on comments and DMs on accounts every hour or so to ensure everyone is answered promptly.

I end the day with a final check of all accounts, emails, and Slack messages, before logging off for a post-work workout!
