Why I Quit Coffee in 2024
Three of us over here at Team Savvy QUIT coffee at the start of 2024, I guess you could call us the half-caff team at this point!
This was completely unplanned, we only found out after a series of meetings full of brain fog and caffeine-withdrawal headaches...But, we wanted to share the reasons behind why we cold turkey quit our morning coffee (because there are some major pluses we have to mention, too!)
The caffeine crash
Having a coffee every morning led to the biggest afternoon caffeine crash of all time for me. I was so sick of hitting that slump in the afternoon! I would either have to take a serious break or drink another cup to sustain my energy level.
Better sleep
I am a hardcore night owl...I mean couldn't get to sleep before 1am even if I had the biggest, most stressful day. I always felt like my body clock was definitely on Europe time, without even ever visiting the country...but I found that coffee was a huge driving force behind that. Now three months into no coffee (and occasionally a little help from Dreamland)
Caffeine withdrawals
On weekends when I'd have coffee a little later in the day, or even when I first quit, as I mentioned above, the withdrawal symptoms are actually rough! Between the no-caffeine headaches, tiredness, and brain fog, my body felt so dependent on caffeine and I didn't love that feeling!
Should you quit caffeine? Honestly, this isn't a persuasive essay. Do what's best for your body! If your daily coffee makes you happy, if you love visiting your local coffee shop with friends, or even if you just need the jolt of caffeine in the morning - there's absolutely nothing wrong with you doing you! On the other hand, if you were on the edge of giving coffee a break or breaking up all together - this could be your sign!
