Transitioning Your Home Décor for The Holidays
The holiday season doesn't feel real until you have your decor up! Now, we will skip the 'is November TOO early to decorate' debate in this blog (but check our Instagram story polls in the upcoming weeks, though 👀), instead, we are going to discuss transforming your decor for the holidays.
For some, this can become an overwhelming process! No one wants to feel cluttered and overwhelmed during this season. Instead, let's talk about how you can transition your home into the new season without the stress!
Transitioning Your Home Decor the Holidays
Step 1: Clean + Declutter
Adding an entirely new set of decor (and a literal tree lolol) can fill up your space fast! Before taking out your holiday decor, take the time to clean and declutter your space, before adding on. What have you been thinking about donating? What other seasonal items can you rotate out for this season? What can get thrown away or could use a deep clean? Home Edit your house, first. Your future self will thank you!
Step 2: Assess what you currently have
If you're like me, as soon as the holiday decor hits the aisle, I DO TOO! But, let's take a step back and browse before heading home and seeing what decor we actually have. A year is a long time, some things you might have forgotten about, some might be out of style, or some might just not make you happy anymore and that's okay, too. Lay out all your current decor to see what gaps there are.
Step 3: Shop or Create Your Final Touches
Remember when I said to hold off on the shopping? Now, this is the fun part! Decorating with the same items every year can feel boring, I agree! What personal touches can you add this year to make it feel new and exciting? After all, this is the most wonderful time of year and you want to feel confident, comfortable, and happy in your space. What about DIYing an orange garland this year? Adding some more greenery? Making a homemade ornament? Finally pulling the credit card out for that Target find you've been eyeing? Find a few new things to keep it fresh and fun for you!
Step 4: Organize
You just brought a lot of new changes to your home! Get comfortable with your new space and organize! This could mean changing up your routine a bit to accompany your new living flo, organizing your bins and other seasonal decor in your storage space, and cleaning up the trail of glitter that somehow always comes with holiday decorating.
PRO TIP: Stick To Your Theme! Again, your future self will thank you! Find a theme you love and will keep loving over the years. Something classic, timeless, and that you won't get the ick looking at when you open your organization bins next year.
