On-a-Budget-Girlie Guide to Summer Fun
Summer is such an awesome time to save because there are so many cheap and free activities we can take advantage of while the weather is on our side.
Let this be your guide to still having a fun summer, without breaking the bank.
Take Advantage of Free Events
Cities often hold free events during the summer - concerts, markets, fitness classes, or activities. Check out your local event pages on your town's website to see what they have going on and if there are any free events specifically you can take advantage of!
Farmer's Markets and Fruit Stands
We aren't saying that all of them have the best prices, so definitely know your area specifically, but fruit stands and local markets might have discounted fresh foods you can take advantage of!
Thrift
If you're looking for your summer look, try a thrift store! Whether it's outfits or your home decor, thrift stores might be a good place to start with budget-friendly options!
Enjoy Outside
There are A LOT of budget-friendly things you can do outside. Here's a fun list to think about:
Go for a hike
Have a picnic
Hammock
Read in your backyard or at a park
Go to the beach
Go on a walk with a friend
Self-care night in with friends
Go on a mural walk in your town
Just be mindful of things like parking or any accessories you need to add to your budget!
Tips for Staying On Budget:
Allow yourself SOME sort of budget for fun! Not everything you do needs to be free, and that's okay. Don't be afraid to treat yourself even when you're saving, because that will help you remain in good spirits on your saving journey!
Try paying in cash. Who carries cash anymore, right? But this could help you be more mindful of what you are spending specifically. Give it a try!
Set goals! Like everything in life, you need goals to help you stay on track.
Look at what you're spending and see if there's anything you can cut out. There are plenty of apps that can help you do that, as well.
Put subscriptions on pause. If your subscriptions allow it, it might be nice to pause or cancel things over the summer. Think about your gym membership or Netflix subscription and maybe that could encourage you, even more, to get outside!
