How to Practice Self-Love This February
February is often about showing love to others, but it’s also the perfect time to pour some of that love into yourself! Practicing self-love is simple, but something we often overlook as we tend to pour into others' cups first.
Let this be your sign to start practicing self-love right now, and carrying these new habits into spring! Here's how:
Treat Yo' Self
Take out of the Parks & Rec book and have a treat yo' self day. Buy yourself a coffee, your Amazon cart you've been waiting on, flowers, or something you've always wanted!
Set Boundaries
One of the most underrated forms of self-love: boundaries!!! Set new boundaries for yourself — at work, work-life balance, relationships, friends, etc. Try to find new ways to work these boundaries into your routine.
Take Yourself on a Date
Let me be the first to say, I hate sitting in a restaurant booth alone, and that's okay if you are in the same boat! This isn't the only form of taking yourself on a date. Go make a bouquet of flowers at Trader Joe's, get takeout from your favorite spot and eat it at home, go to TJ Maxx and get lost in the aisles — whatever that date looks like for you.
Write Yourself a Love Letter
I know, I know, it sounds super cheesy. If we can 'buy ourselves flowers' as Miley Cyrus says, we can write ourselves a love letter. To better our relationships, we have to love ourselves first, and that all starts with positive self-talk. Put a pen to paper and write a little note from you to you.
Learn Something New
Can we talk about the confidence that comes with learning?! Bettering yourself and working on yourself is such an amazing thing you can do. While absolutely no one is good at something from the get-go, but the confidence should come from the fact that you tried something out of your current wheelhouse. So, take that course, try a new hobby, and join a new league!
Add Affirmations Into Your Routine
Again, positive self-talk! Adding affirmations into your routine has been known to boost mental health, improve problem-solving abilities, and better performance. Try to write them out in your journal, leave a sticky note on your bathroom mirror, or say them when you wake up!
