A Recap Of a Staycation in Tarpon Springs, FL
If you're local to the Tampa Bay area, like the Social Savvy Team, and haven't visited the Sponge City, add this to your summer bucket list!
This past weekend I took a staycation to Tarpon Springs, just north of Tampa Bay, and I'm sharing all my favorite shops, stops, and spots that I couldn't get enough of. Whether you're planning a fun day trip or a staycation yourself, you have to check these out!
Day 1 in Tarpon Springs, Florida:
Sponge City Brewery
We got in a bit late from work, so we just went to grab a few bites to eat. We got the thai chili wings and mac and cheese bites, both were amazing!
The Bistro
The Risotto Ball appetizer will change your life. We wanted to grab one more quick app and drink before heading home and this was our last stop!
Day 2 in Tarpon Springs, Florida:
The Tarpon Social Club
Love this little coffee shop! I did a bit of work from here in the morning and then grabbed one of their avocado toasts (it has a fun Greek spin!), and a coffee before heading out.
Salvage Bank
We stopped in at this fun thrift shop. This is such a fun place to explore. I'm collecting postcards for my wedding, so I was on the hunt. The owner actually gave postcards for free and was super sweet!
Rusty Bellies
Every time I'm in the area, this is always our go-to. We got a spot for a late "lunch." I'm an appetizer queen, so of course we got the crab ragoons and brussel sprouts (I'm starting to wonder if I order anything else?)
Sponge Shop
After lunch, we went back to our stay's pool before heading back to town around sunset time. With a name like Sponge City, you have to get a soap + sponge souvenir, so we stopped by Lori's Soaps and Sponges. The smell of this store alone will have you wandering in. I got a lemon soap I can't wait to use!
Sponge Dock Walk
The Sponge docks are the perfect place to catch the sunset and see them unloading the sponges for the day.
Day 3 in Tarpon Springs, FL:
Pinellas Bike Trail
We took bikes into the main street to look at the other shops. Tarpon Springs essentially has two downtown streets, so we had to snoop at this one along the bike trail. There are lots of fun restaurants and shops along this route, and murals.
Sunset Beach
We stopped at Sunset Beach to catch some views of the water before heading home. I wish we had more time because this could be such a good spot for a beach day!
What's your favorite staycation spot around Tampa Bay? We want to hear from you!
